Though based in California, our work is rooted in the culture of the Hawaiian Islands. Hui International highlights Hawaiian terms and embraces the indigenous Hawaiian philosophy of aloha, in order to honor the origins of our work and to guide our future programs and projects. Our Art of Parenting programs are offshoots of the Family Hui Hawaii program.
FOUNDING YEAR
FAMILIES REACHED
Our work is founded and carried out in the spirit of aloha, a joyful sharing of life together. This term defines the essence of our organization and our mission. Hui International works with academics, agencies, and parents and caregivers with many different backgrounds. We believe it is with the spirit of aloha that we are best able to welcome and honor all people.
“Hawai’i indeed has this message to send to the world, and I think the practice of aloha can exist throughout the world if people understand themselves and the effect that they have on everyone around them. Aloha is there in everyone – you just need to tap into yours.”
—Clifford Nae’ole,
Our work focuses on the translation and transformation of health research into culturally responsive programs and materials. Hui International is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of women, their children and families worldwide. We are committed to breaking intergenerational cycles of abuse and health and wellbeing disparities via research partnerships and health and wellbeing programs and projects.

To create safe, stable, nurturing, and empowering relationships and environments where all can blossom and thrive.
We are committed not only to building the spirit of aloha in self, family, and community ecosystems but also with the natural ecosystem. This is called aloha āina – love of the land.
Our wellbeing is directly tied to that of the land. For us to thrive our land must thrive, too. Our caretaking must extend beyond ourselves. This, too, defines who Hui International is and what we hope to bring to the world.
