Art of Parenting: Kapua

Kapua is the Hawaiian term for "flower" and "child".

The Art of Parenting: Kapua is a ten-week program for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5. Parents meet once to learn about early childhood development, parental and child needs and challenges.

Kapua is a trauma-informed, healing-centered educational program. To implement the program, Hui International’s team partners with agencies in the United States with state and county funding and Afghanistan though private donations.

Kapua is one of the first evidenced-informed programs in the United States to embed components on PACEs.

Good News!

Hui International offered The Art of Parenting: Kapua in Afghanistan prior to August 2021. Due to multiple requests from women in Kabul, Hui International will relaunch the program in Afghanistan in the Fall of 2023.

The program has been described as “a light in the darkness", “educational", and “an offering of hope".
